Every vehicle on this page comes with an experienced, English-speaking driver. That is how most visitors get around Sri Lanka. Roads outside the expressways are slow and busy, and with a local driver you can relax, stop wherever you like and change the plan on the day. You can hire a car for a single airport transfer, a day trip or a round trip of the island. You'll have the same driver from start to finish.
Vehicle classes
Car (1–3 passengers)
Toyota Aqua (2 passengers), Honda FIT Shuttle, Honda Insight, Toyota Allion, Toyota Axio, Toyota Premio, Toyota Prius, Honda Vezel and Toyota CHR (3 passengers each). From USD 50 per day for an economy sedan with driver.
Luxury car
BMW 520D, Nissan Teana 250XV and Toyota Alphard, for business travel, weddings and anyone who wants more space. A semi-luxury car with driver costs USD 100 per day.
Van (4–9 passengers)
Nissan NV200 (4), Mercedes-Benz Vito, Nissan Caravan and Toyota Hiace KDH (6), and Toyota Hiace Commuter (9 passengers, 8–10 bags). Good for families and small groups with luggage. From USD 60 per day.
Bus (15–45 passengers)
Nissan Civilian and Toyota Coaster (15), Mitsubishi Rosa (18), Xiamen Golden Dragon (30) and Golden Dragon Navigator (45). For tour groups, events and cruise excursions. Ask for a quote.
What the price includes
- Air-conditioned vehicle and the services of a trained tourist chauffeur

- The driver's food, accommodation and daily allowance (bata)
- Expressway tolls and parking fees
- Airport paging (meet and greet in arrivals)
- Bottled water (500 ml per person per day) and a local SIM card
- All applicable government taxes
Prices are in USD. If you pay in LKR, the banks' current exchange rate applies. There are no hidden charges.
How booking works
- Ask for a free quote. Send your dates, the number of passengers, your pickup point and the places you'd like to see using the quote form or WhatsApp (+94 77 386 6402).
- Get a tailored price. We suggest a vehicle and route and quote a total price for your trip.
- Confirm. Pay in cash (USD, EUR or LKR), by Visa or Mastercard, or by bank transfer, either in advance or at the end of the service.
- Meet your driver at the airport or your hotel on day one.
We recommend booking 3–7 days ahead, and earlier for December–March and July–August. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before the service.

How much does it cost to rent a car with driver in Sri Lanka?
From USD 50 per day for an economy car, USD 60 per day for a van and USD 100 per day for a semi-luxury car. Fuel, tolls, parking and the driver's food and accommodation are included.
Where does the driver stay at night?
Most hotels provide driver accommodation. Where they don't, we arrange and pay for it, so it costs you nothing extra.
Can I drive myself instead?
Self-drive needs an International Driving Permit plus a Sri Lankan recognition permit, and traffic is unpredictable. Most visitors find a driver less stressful and similar in cost. See our Getting Around Sri Lanka guide.

Yes. Every vehicle has comprehensive insurance covering third-party liability, passengers, the vehicle and the driver.
